I create wired black lines in space that are made to be shown on white walls accentuated by shadows. I begin with the eyes creating out from the center.
I'm inspired by images of Hippies, Hindu Sadhus, Rastas and the women in my life. Using # 9 lineman pliers and 7" needle nose pliers, then taking 16 gauge tie wire used in rebar construction and smaller gauge wires for details I create my sculptures.
I let my mind wander and improvise within the free flow of the wire, creating an expressive image that I fine tune until I feel like it's looking back at me. It's as if the piece comes alive, ready for a journey out into the world.
