The 2009 summer show at Neptune is filled with abstract paintings by Duane Cregger, Thomas Drymon and Greg Minah. Each artist uses their specific environment to inform the language of their passionate work, ranging from urban collapse, the stark earth or everyday relationships in a close knit community in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Duane Cregger, who was raised in the mountains of Virginia, spent twelve years in the DC area running his successful graphic design firm. A move back to his homeland gave him the opportunity to paint full time. His work uses bright colors and thick applications of paint to represent an intimate narrative of his mountain life.
Thomas Drymon is a current DC resident who lived for many years in New Orleans. A collection of paintings from his days there is represented in this exhibit. His work responds to the underrated forms of beauty found both in the decay of the natural landscape and the process of aging.

Baltimore painter Greg Minah spent a month in the Mojave Desert completing the 2008 Joshua Tree Highlands Artist Residency program, one of only nine artists from around the world selected for this residency. Most of the work in this exhibit is from that period and strongly responds to the rock formations and arid region of southeastern California. In 2009 Minah was a finalist for the annual Bethesda Painting Awards and is a finalist for the Trawick Prize this fall.
