I've been making drawings for 30 years, and for all that time I've been depicting mostly women from my imagination who are essentially my self. Dogs, birds and other living things figure in as well, everybody helping to create a narrative that feels right and is important to me as I try to come to terms with living.
Making ceramics, which I've taken up more recently, has given me a needed break from working only with pencils and paper; it's changed my scale, let me work sculpturally, and lightened the imagery somewhat. I value both ways of working.
